Starting Solid Foods

Starting solid foods should be a lot of fun for both parent and child. For some parents this is a high stress situation and it really should not be. The process is simple; once your baby is at least 4 months old and can hold their head up, start with healthy and easy to swallow foods. As your baby masters those foods move to more 'advanced' foods. Simple enough!

Stay away from honey and foods that can choke. 

In the past many suggested starting with white rice cereal. Pediatricians no longer make this recommendation as giving your baby white rice cereal is almost the same as giving processed sugar. Instead, give whole grain cereal. It is the same price and just as easily found as white rice cereal. For more information take a look at Dr Greene's White OUT campaign.
